Have you wondered what the little anchor icon is in your browser? What does it do? How come I can't move parts around like I used to?
Watch this video to learn more about the Ground To Parent command:
Fusion has recently introduced new functionality known as Ground To Parent, which establishes a fixed or rigid connection between a child component and its parent component, ensuring they move in unison.
What is the benefit of this feature? It accelerates the process of assembling components in Fusion. Normally, you would have to establish joints or rigid groups to connect parts together, resulting in numerous joints appearing in your browser. With the child component automatically linking to the parent, there's no necessity to create these additional joint types.
In the video, I demonstrate a lunchbox example featuring both a lid and a handle. Normally, you would design the handle separately and attach it using a joint, or you could design it directly in the correct location and then connect it to the lid using an as-built joint or a rigid group. However, by utilizing the Ground To Parent feature, when I designed the handle component as a subpart of the lid component, it automatically generated the rigid group, eliminating the need for creating a joint manually.
If you do not like this "automation", you do have the ability to turn off the Ground To Parent functionality in your Preferences.
Give this a try and see what you think.
